Copper cold plates could slash data-center energy usage
The design could cut cooling energy for a 1 GW data center from about 500 MW to 11 MW, the researchers said.
Mechanical engineers have designed a more effective and energy-efficient technology for cooling computer chips. Published in Cell Reports Physical Science, the researchers used a mathematical algorithm and advanced 3D printing to create these innovative cold plates.
